JSS College of Physiotherapy features a well-equipped library on the second floor, catering to the academic and research needs of students and faculty. It serves as a central hub for acquiring knowledge, conducting research, and enhancing academic pursuits in physiotherapy and related fields. The library offers a diverse collection of books, journals, and digital resources tailored to healthcare and rehabilitation, fostering an environment conducive to learning and research. It plays a crucial role in supporting our mission to educate and empower future physiotherapists with the latest advancements and skills essential for their profession.

Highlights of Library and Information Centre:

The Library and Information Centre at JSS College of Physiotherapy was established in 1999 with the aim of supporting the academic and research needs of both faculty and students. Located on the second floor of the main building, spanning an area of 3212 sq ft, it is divided into sections including Reference, Periodicals, Computers, and a General Reading Room, catering to the needs of faculty, postgraduate students, and interns.

The library houses an extensive collection of 2084 volumes, including medical reference books, textbooks, dictionaries, technical reports, thesis works, and dissertation reports. It also holds back volumes of periodicals and video cassettes. Currently, the library subscribes to 12 journals (2 foreign, 10 Indian) in medical sciences, displayed systematically for easy access.

Operating hours are from Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sundays and general holidays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Services include reference assistance for staff, inter-library loans, SC/ST book bank scheme, internet surfing, Xerox service, CD-ROM Medline Database access, and facilities for thesis, dissertation, and reprography services.

Furthermore, the library provides access to electronic journals through Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, with 236 full-text journals, and offers access to 211 e-books.

The library at J.S.S College of Physiotherapy is divided into several sections designed to cater to different needs:

  1. Reference Section: This section can accommodate up to 100 candidates and houses a total of 2086 books. It serves as a quiet study area equipped with necessary resources for in-depth research and reference.
  2. Audio-Visual and Computer Section: Apart from books, this section includes audio-visual cassettes and provides access to computers with internet facilities. It supports multimedia learning and research activities.
  3. Periodicals: The library subscribes to 12 newspapers and 20 magazines, offering current information and diverse perspectives on healthcare and related topics.

Sunday and other General Holidays: 11a.m. to 5.p.m

Library Services:

  • Our library is meant only for reference sake and the staff members alone can get the facilities for the same.
  • Inter-Library loan facilities are also offered.
  • SC/ST book bank scheme is available.
  • The other facilities available are: Internet surfing, Xerox service, CD-ROM Medline Database service, Videocassettes, Thesis and Dissertation Works, Reprography .
  • Access to electronic journals through Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (236 Full Text Journals) and E-books (211)

The library sections:

The reference section of the library has a capacity to seat 100 candidates and has in its store totally 2086 books.

Along with the audio visual cassette section computer and internet facilities are also provided.

This section of the library has subscribed 12 news papers and 20 magazines and internet facility.

Library General Rules:

  1. Identity Card Requirement: Students and staff must present their identity cards for verification upon request by library staff.
  2. No Personal Belongings: Personal belongings are strictly prohibited inside the library premises.
  3. Silence and Discipline: Maintaining strict silence and discipline is mandatory within and around the library to facilitate a conducive study environment.
  4. Preservation of Library Property: Writing upon or damaging any book, furniture, or library property is strictly prohibited.
  5. Responsibility for Damaged or Lost Books: In case of loss, missing pages, or damage to books, the concerned student or staff member will be liable to pay double, triple, or multiple times the current rate of the book.
  6. Book Renewal Policy: The same book or title cannot be renewed consecutively.
  7. Book Recall: The Librarian reserves the right to recall any borrowed book or material at any time if deemed necessary.
  8. Restriction on Book Lending: Lending of books from the lending section will cease one week before final exams commence.
  9. No Dues Certificate: Every member must obtain a "No dues certificate" from the library at the end of every academic year, confirming the return of all borrowed materials and clearance of any outstanding fines or dues.
